Several minutes of low-quality footage of a very high-quality musical event.
On Friday, February 21, 2014, Liza Figueroa’s Go-Go Symphony ensemble performed with John Devlin’s Capital City Symphony and dancers from Da Originalz, along with special guest MC Head Roc (the ‘mayor’ of DC hip-hop) in a category-defying performance that culminated in Kravinsky’s three-movement Go-Go Symphony. For the uninitiated, go-go is DC’s local sub-genre of funk. Anyone interested in the future of classical music or the creative destruction of traditional cultural categories will find this fascinating. The audience at Atlas found it a whole-body, energizing experience.
